meet the candlemaker…

Welcome, friends! My name is Alexandra and I am the owner and candlemaker of Heartspur Candle Co. I’m a candlemaker, writer, crafter, thrifter, reader, former social worker, and all around soft girl trying to survive a hard world. I’m a mom of two lively neurodivergent boys who keep me on my toes at all hours of the day and night and wife to my husband of 12 years. Fun fact: we are both named Alex and yes we did say “I, Alex, take you, Alex…” in our wedding vows.

I spent most of my life as a candle consumer and sometimes hobby maker, but that changed when I began working part-time at a candle company and learned the ins and outs of making candles professionally. The process of crafting candles felt therapeutic for me and the experience felt like finding a key to unlocking joy in my everyday life. Heartspur is my love letter to the craft that gave me joy and a vehicle to create quality, grounded candles for a gentler, softer world.

Each purchase helps us give back to organizations that advocate for disability rights and to hopefully reach our ultimate goal: to create a brand that grows to provide fulfilling employment opportunities for individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
